On May 28, 2016, the doors opened on America’s 11th International Stamp Exhibition, World Stamp Show 2016. It marked the show’s return to New York after 60 years.
On January 23, 1986, the USPS issued its first commemorative booklet, which honored stamp collecting. Promoting the upcoming AMERIPEX, it was also a joint issue with Sweden that honored 100th anniversary of the American Philatelic Society.
On October 16, 1926, the US hosted its second international philatelic exhibition in New York, New York. Among the show’s highlights was the issue of America’s first souvenir sheet.
On June 9, 1978, Canada opened its second international stamp exhibition, CAPEX ’78 (CAnadian Philatelic EXhibition). The show marked the first time the US issued a souvenir sheet outside of the country.
On May 27, 2006, the tenth US International Philatelic Exhibition opened at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. Officially named Washington Philatelic Exhibition Inc., its most often referred to as Washington 2006.
On May 17, 1947, doors opened on the Centenary International Philatelic Exhibition in New York City. It celebrated the 100th anniversary of America’s first postage stamps with reproductions of America’s first two stamps.
On March 11, 1977, the USPS issued its first se-tenant stamps in booklet form.
