I’m getting too much mail from Mystic. How do I reduce the amount?

We like to keep you up to date on all the latest and greatest offers Mystic has, but we understand that sometimes means getting a little more mail than you’d like.  If that’s the case, simply e-mail mystic@mysticstamp.com and let us know you’d like to take a break from our mailing list at this time.

E-mail your issue or the error you are receiving to mystic@mysticstamp.com. You can also call 1-866-660-7147 and one of our friendly and knowledgeable customer service representatives will be happy to assist you.

What’s the status of my order?

For questions about your order, please e-mail mystic@mysticstamp.com with your order number and item details. A customer service representative will be happy to look it up for you.

How soon will my order arrive?

Mystic ships most orders in 1-3 business days by First Class or Priority Mail. Orders typically arrive 1-8 days after shipment. Albums and other heavy items may require an additional two days.

How do I return an item?

All orders can be returned within 90 days of purchase. To get started, simply look at the back of the packing slip that came with your order. You will see a section to fill in when returning your order to Mystic. This is also where you can indicate whether you would like a replacement or a refund. Send the product back in its original packaging along with the return form and we will process your return as soon as it arrives.

About Stamps and Collecting

I’m looking for a specific rare stamp. Can you help me?

Yes! Click the tab at the top of Mystic’s homepage that says “US Stamps.” On the left side of the screen, you will see several different categories of US stamps. Toward the bottom, you will see “Rare Stamps.” Click this and you will see a list of the rarest stamps we currently have in stock. Looking for a stamp you don’t see on the list? Contact one of our personal stamp advisors at 1-877-631-2221. They’re experts at helping collectors get hard-to-find stamps and will be happy to help you.

How do I find out if one of my stamps is valuable?

We suggest visiting your local library and finding the most recent Scott Catalogue version they have available.  They’re usually found in the reference section.  If you’re unable to find your stamp in the Scott Catalogue, contact the American Stamp Dealers Association for information on a dealer in your area who might be able to examine the stamp and help you identify it.  You can also take advantage of Mystic’s stamp ID service.  Visit info.mysticstamp.com/stampid to learn more.

How do I remove a self-adhesive stamp from an envelope or backing paper?

Self-adhesive stamps issued prior to 2008 should be soaked in room-temperature water for 20-25 minutes. Then gently slide the stamp off the backing paper.

*Stamps issued from 2008 onward should NOT be soaked. The stamp will likely never come off and you may damage it in the process. Instead, simply cut around the stamp to remove it from the envelope, taking care not to cut into the stamp while trimming.

What do “HM” and “HU” mean when it comes to stamp condition?

These are stamps with one or two minor imperfections that don’t detract from their beauty or collectibility but do save you money off Mystic’s U.S. Stamp Catalog prices. HM designates unused stamps. HU designates used stamps.

What is the difference between a coil stamp and a booklet stamp?

A coil stamp has perforations on either the top and bottom OR left and right sides.  A booklet stamp has perforations on 3 or 4 sides.

What is the difference between a hinge and a mount?

A hinge is a piece of glassine paper with water-activated adhesive on both ends. To apply a stamp to an album page using a hinge, lightly moisten the ends of the glassine paper and stick one side to the back of the stamp and the other side to your album page.

A mount is a sturdy “envelope” with a crystal-clear front. Mounts are adhered to the album page and then the stamp is slid into the pocket. Mounts are the best way to protect your stamps from common threats like fingerprints, dust, creases, and tears.

How do I figure out what size mount will fit my stamp?

Just measure your stamp’s width and height (mounts are measured in millimeters).  Add 5 millimeters to each measurement, then refer to Mystic’s mount list to find the corresponding size.  Or simply go to Mystic’s website and search by the stamp’s description or Scott number.  Mount sizes are listed on each stamp’s page in the lower right corner of the stamp image.

What is the difference between Mystic’s Heritage and Heirloom supplements?

Mystic’s Heritage Stamp Collection pages illustrate US commemorative stamps.  The Heirloom Stamp Collection pages illustrate commemorative AND definitive stamps.

What are “Hingeless” album pages?

Hingeless album pages have clear drop-end mounts attached to them.  They’re convenient, saving you the time and effort of affixing mounts. Simply slip your stamps inside the mounts and you’re done!

What is the difference between an album and a binder?

An album is a binder with pages.  A binder does not include the pages, you’ll have to buy pages separately.

How do I know which supplement pages will fit my album?

Click on “Supplies,” then “Pages.” This section features images and measurements of the majority of our products. You should be able to compare to your album size to find just what you need.

Does Mystic’s stamp grading take into account centering, gum, and perforations?

Yes! Mystic’s strict grading standards take all of these into consideration when assessing a stamp.

Your offer mentions stamps “on approval.” What does that mean?

Mystic sends stamps “on approval” that we think our collectors might enjoy.  It’s a small number of stamps for you to examine in your home without any obligation.  After you receive the stamps, take up to 21 days to decide if you want to purchase some, all, or none.  Return any stamps you don’t want along with your reply form in the postage-paid envelope we’ve provided.  Stamps on approval are risk free and it’s our way of helping you get one step closer to owning the collection of your dreams.  If you have any further questions, simply email us at info@mysticstamp.com and we’ll be happy to help.
