The Secret to a Brighter Day? It’s in Your Stamp Album

February 28th, 2025

Dear friend and fellow collector,

Another year has rolled around and it’s our privilege (yours and mine) to be looking ahead to a fresh year.  That’s really why I’m writing to touch base with you today…

With things being kind of unsettled in the world right now, I thought you might need a little lift.  So I’m hoping to remind you again of a simpler time when you discovered your love of stamps.  To get you thinking about the many times when you needed to get away from the chaos of the world, and you did that by getting your stamps out and focusing on the fun of collecting.

I’m sure you’ll agree we can’t do much about confusing headlines and concerns about the future that seem to surround us these days.  Happily, we can always rely on our stamps to give us a much-needed break.  (I have to admit, I’ve taken a lot of those breaks lately!)  Here’s what I’m thinking…

When I look at my stamps, they make me feel lots of different ways.

2200 - 1986 22c Stamp Collecting: Under Magnifying Glass
US #2200

Smarter
when I discover something new about them.

Challenged
when I see one stamp missing from an almost-complete set.
(That old thrill of the chase.)

1053 - 1956 Liberty Series - $5 Alexander Hamilton
US #1053
US #902

Thoughtful
when the subject has great historic meaning.

Patriotic
when I learn something wonderful about our country.

2360 - 1987 22c Signing of the Constitution
US #2360

And when I learn about other countries from their stamps, I feel like my world view has broadened.  To tell you the truth, I feel proud when I remember I’m preserving my stamps for future generations.  So, how do your stamps make you feel?  Are they part of your best childhood memories, like mine?  What else?  I’d love to hear.  Hint, hint…😉

175//89 - 1937 Mozambique Company
I was amazed when my dad brought home the delightful Mozambique Company Pictorial stamps.  I still remember how beautiful and exciting they were to me.  I get the same feeling even now.  Every time I look at them, it takes me back.

Finally, stamp collecting is a recipe for making our lives brighter.  It energizes and sharpens our brain.  It gives us a time and setting where we’re in control.  It satisfies our love of history.  It makes us better citizens of our country and the world.  I urge you to get your stamps out today.  You don’t have to spend even a penny to get a needed dose of stress-free relaxation.

Whenever you want stamps, supplies, or your questions answered, we’re here.  As always, we’re your trusted friend in the stamp world – just a phone call or email away.

Happy collecting!

P.S. Get your stamps out and let them give you back a feeling of peace and control. Let them take you around the world or back to America’s past. Feel smart, stress-free and energized. You can do it without spending a penny, just by looking at the stamps you already own. And always remember – stamp collecting is the gift of a lifetime.
